Y ARTS Classes

The YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts is home to the Act Out Theatre School. Professionally taught in a supportive, positive, "Y-Friendly" atmosphere, classes are offered year-round for children ages 3 and up.

"Production with Instruction"

Incorporate the study of acting techniques with a full show featuring all the students at session's end.

Past productions include:

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Performance Workshop ages 8-14
"Little Women" - Teen Theatre ages 14+
"Kidz Rock Broadway" - Musical Theatre Workshops for ages 8-12, 13+

Performing Arts Camp offers summer sessions with instruction in acting, voice and dance as well as full productions for ages 8-16.

SESSION II Fall Classes Forming Now!

 

Acting Out of the Box

 Combines acting technique with the study and performance of monologue and scene work. Great beginner class for the new actor age 8-12

Y Not Improv

Theatre improvisation technique and fun exercises for ages 12+

Adult Acting

Basic acting technique and body/voice work, enhancing the skills of the intermediate or advanced adult actor.   Helps beginning actors with creativity and confidence.

Talented Mini Tots

An introduction to theatre for ages 3-5

Talented Tots

Continued theatre games and more for ages 5-7

Everything on Camera

Acting for commercials and television for kids and teens/adults

All registered ARTS students can bring a friend to class on this day from 4:15-6:15 for FREE! They must come in with the registered student of that program.

 
ACT OUT THEATRE
   

 

SUNDAY November 9    (YMCA 2nd Fl Little Einstein Rm)

12-1pm    FREE class in Acting Out of the Box-sample of acting and theatre games, improvisation, monologues and scenes for ages 8+

1-1:30 FREE Sample readings by Act Out Teen Theatre Students from “Finally, Monologues That Work” by Laurie Ann Davis, Act Out Theatre Instructor

1:30-2:30 FREE class in acting exercises, character development, monologue and scene work for the adult actor. All levels welcome!

 

               DANCE    (YMCA Dance Studio)

SATURDAY November 8     3pm             FREE class in Theatre Jazz  for ages 8+. 

SUNDAY November 9         1:30pm         FREE class in African Hip Hop at for ages 8+.
