If there is one word that describes Rufus Wainwright, it is prolific. As singer, songwriter, author, composer, and even screen actor (Scorsese’s The Aviator),
he has carved out his own singular place in the worlds of rock, opera,
theater, dance, and film. But he’s best known as the man Elton John
referred to as “the greatest songwriter on the planet,” one of the great
male vocalists and songwriters of his generation.
His catalog includes
eight CDs to date, including All Days are Nights: Songs for Lulu (2010), Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall (his Grammy-nominated recreation of Judy Garland’s fabled Carnegie Hall concert), and his latest, Out of the Game, released this past spring.
